2026- Attorney Leah Marie Barrault in MA Appellate Court

The State Police Association of Massachusetts asked the Massachusetts Appeals Court to reverse a lower court's finding that disciplinary appeals must be pursued through the state's Civil Service Commission, arguing that the terms of its collective bargaining agreement allow for a grievance and arbitration as an alternative.

The Union’s lawyer, Leah Marie Barrault said, "This is not like we're just upset about one case. The arbitration award that came out basically says a union can never file a grievance and challenge any employee's discipline."
